What is the difference between a slid state drive and a portable hard drive?
Solid state hard drives are extremely fast and have an interface of a SATA port usually. The external or portable hard drives have a mini USB connector so that you can connect to multiple computers easily without having to take them apart to get to a SATA connector.

Does it come woth a data transfer cable? / USB to SATA?
No, you will need to have some way to either clone or copy your existing hard drive to this unless you are using it for a spare storage drive.

Will this work with a Toshiba Laptop?
This will work with just about any laptop, you may need to remove a cover or a few screws on the bottom of your laptop to get to the existing hard drive. If you can't see a panel to open up, you may have to search for a disassembly video or manual for your laptop to figure out how to get the existing hard drive out.
