This a basic 2.0 Stereo amplifier/receiver. We wanted a simple stereo setup to go with the sony flat screen and blu ray we had in our bedroom. The unit has the ability to easily connect the TV and Disc player. In addition we are able to connect our mp3 players, tablets, etc. and listen to AM/FM radio (don't forget to buy an antennae! ) The final bonus is, since our system is all Sony, all the equipment can be controlled with just the TV remote. The sound from this unit is straightforward...meaning, what goes in, comes out. 200w is more than adequate and will drive bookshelf to mid-sized speakers. There are treble and bass adjustments for basic sound contouring. You can have up to 4 speakers operate at once with A/B switching. We recommend this for someone that needs a simple stereo unit that will allow connections for all their essential peripherals. This item does not allow a sub woofer.

I have speaker ss-f6000
This receiver sony for 200 watts is ok for my speaker o i need moré watts thanks
It will work...however, for best performance, if you can afford it, try to buy a unit with 600 to 800w.

Does the Sony STRDN840 receiver have dual zone capabilities?
It has A/B switching. So you can attach 2 pairs of speakers in a stereo configuration or have 4 independent speakers with the mono setting. All speakers have to be hardwired since this unit is not blue tooth. Hope that helps!

Would this receiver be a good pair for Sony's SS-F7000 Floor Standing Speakers?
It will work fine with that speaker set. Having said that, I would recommend moving up to an amp with more watts for those speakers if you can afford it. Your F7000's are rated @ 200w. Without getting too complicated, you will get better drive to your speakers with 600 to 800 watts.
