Do more laundry in less time. This spacious Samsung washer takes fewer loads to get all your laundry done. Plus, you can use it anytime, because everyone will sleep right through the reduced noise and vibration levels.

The Heavy Duty setting is the best feature

Now, I'm only knocking off a star because I can't use the fastest spin cycle on every preset, and because the presets aren't as flexible in terms of temperature and spin speed as I would like. Otherwise, I love this washer because it does everything I need it to do, and can get things done either super quickly or super well. Besides, it sings to me when it turns on or finishes a load, which is really charming.
The normal cycles are great if you're in a hurry or if your clothes never really get dirty. "Normal" works well for things like t-shirts and jeans. "Quick wash" is good for washing that last-minute blouse for an event that starts in two hours--you can wash and dry it with plenty of time left over to do your makeup or take a shower. "Bedding" is great because it doesn't tangle up your sheets (though, this won't use the fastest spin cycle). The machine will tailor water usage to the load size without hammering the pipes, and will remain unlockable for about five minutes in case you suddenly realize that you dropped a sock on the way to the laundry room. (Seriously, that's an amazing feature!)
However, this machine's greatest strength is the heavy duty cycle. On eco warm, it's not bad on heating costs, and though it takes about 45 mins longer than a normal cycle, it will get almost any dirt out of any material, as long as you're using proper amounts of detergent. With someone in the house working for a precast concrete manufacturer, and another who does a lot of gardening and cleaning, this feature is indispensable. You can put a floor cleaning microfiber pad, work pants covered in concrete dust, and some filthy gardening gloves in a single load, and they'll come out clean and fresh. (Though, just don't expect miracles for permanent stains or natural wear and tear from use.) There's also a lint trap which helps cut down on things like pet hair and loose fiber from your clothing, but you will need to clean it out every so often.
Lastly, this machine's fastest spin cycle is 1200 RPM, which is on the higher end--800 RPM being on the lower end. The higher the RPM, the more water it squeezes out of your clothes, and the less time your clothes spend in a dryer. Combined with a dryer that has sensor dry tech (like the matching set to this machine), your energy costs will be much lower than with an old top-load washer and an older dryer without sensor dry. Regardless of your washer choice or budget allocation, make sure you go for the highest spin speed you can afford. Lucky for me, this machine met all the requirements.
I would recommend this machine if you:
- Work construction, garden a lot, or need something that can launder just about anything
- Have an old top-loader and just want to upgrade to something nice and simple without breaking the budget
- Have or plan on getting a dryer with sensor dry technology (or if you find that your clothes take forever to dry)
Do NOT pick this machine if you need to sanitize or wash things like baby diapers--there's a different model in this machine's generation with that setting. This model has basic settings only.
PRO TIP: If you do choose this washer, or any other front loader, make sure that you leave the door wide open after every load to let it dry out. This will prevent mold and mildew buildup, and you won't get that musty smell that a lot of people will complain about with machines like this. The gasket on this machine is really good, so even if you crack it open, there won't be enough airflow to let it dry. Just leave the door open for a day and close it when you remember to later on.

Spent a long time researching dryers and the companies that make them, and finally decided on this one because it was on a good sale. The available presets are intuitive and customizable, I can save my favorite settings for the usual loads that I do, and the installation was really painless.
Most importantly, though are the sensor dry and mixed load features, which both help save electricity and protect clothes that are more sensitive to heat. These are great when you're doing loads that include cotton, sportswear, and things with garters or zippers.
Oh, and it sings to you when it's done. So cute!

Is this dryer really 7.5 cubic ft. Or is that just with the storage compartment?

The volume given is the capacity of the drum, so yes, it's 7.5 cubic feet--though the baffles that help tumble the clothes probably knock it down to about 7 cu. ft. If you're asking about the overall appliance size, you can find those dimensions in the specs given on the site.
