We know the camera is good, but I was surprised at how sharp the video is with the kit lens!
I give it a 5 star rating, but there is one thing that really bugs me. Could they have found a worse place to put the SD card slot? I prefer to use a USB 3 card reader to move my files to the computer because it's a LOT faster. Taking the card out takes some getting used to. That's my only gripe and that isn't even one point on one star. 5 stars all the way!

The sharpest lens I own

This lens is extremely sharp. I prefer to use a tripod, but it can be handheld for longer shots. Even a monopod would be a big help when trying to zero in on a little flower or bug. I've used it on the A7Rii and A6300. Auto focus is sometimes goofy, but the manual focus is excellent.

Great camera needs good glass

You've read all the glowing reviews. That's what we do, right. Anything negative is disregarded as being written by some ignorant nobody and then we press on to the next 5 star review.
When you consider this camera, you are probably looking for something that will satisfy your pixel peeping appetite. If that's the case, it would serve you well to pay close attention to the glass you buy for this camera. Visit DXOmark and check the sharpness rating before you buy any lens. That is, if you care about sharpness. So far I've got the 90mm Macro, the 55mm f1.8 and the 28mm f2. All are at the top of the sharpness heap and show it in the images. Prior to these, I tried the 24-70 f4 and was disappointed with the sharpness in photos. For video it was fine, but you don't need ultra sharp lenses for video since you are only resolving about 8.8 megapixels.
I'm waiting to see what kind of sharpness values the new G Master lenses get. In the meantime, I'll be saving up.

The picture quality is amazing. Of course more manual control buttons would be nice, but put it in Auto and go shoot. It's small and compact unlike many video cameras that don't even approach the quality of this one. I love it for casual shooting and the 4k is beautiful. I use Premiere Pro, sometimes on a PC with an i5 processor and 8g ram. That is the absolute minimum for processing 4k and even that isn't great. The nice thing is you can set it to dual record and it will generate an MP4 file that is a lot smaller. You can edit that and then apply the edit to the larger 4k file.

I love this camera and wish I could afford both the A7Sii AND the A7Rii, but I can't. So I returned it for the A7Rii and 42MP files. There was nothing about the camera I didn't like except the 16MP sensor. I just wanted more detail in the landscape pictures that I often take. I also have plans to make some big prints so the A7Rii is the right camera for me. If you do primarily video, the A7Sii is better.

I bought this along with the A7Sii. They didn't have the 16-35 in stock and I thought this would work pretty well. Don't get me wrong, it's average sharp, but I brought the A7Sii back and got an A7Rii so I wanted something that could take advantage of the higher resolution. I ended up with the 28mm F2 and the 90mm Macro, both Sony. They are super sharp.
The 24-70 was good for video. The lens has great auto focus.

How do you manually change the time
Lost the manual. The DST button on the back turns the clock back not forward. No other combination changes time. Alternately, how to get a manual?
Press and hold the Set Time button on the back then use the + and - button to change the date, time. Make sure DST is showing if you are experiencing that worthless feature that was cast on us by the "Gobermint". If you are on Standard time make sure it isn't showing. Be sure to set the date and it will automatically change to DST or Standard time based on the date.
