The complete fourth season of the present-day adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's imitable Sherlock Holmes crime drama series. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the titular detective who cracks various crime cases for the Metropolitan Police Service in London alongside his sidekick Doctor John Watson (Martin Freeman). The award-winning adaptation is a collaboration between the BBC and PBS, and the fourth season features guest star Toby Jones as one of Sherlock's many adversaries.
This release contains the complete third season of the CW spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals. The series follows three vampire siblings (Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt) who return to New Orleans to gain back power of the city that they built. All 22 episodes from the third season of the supernatural fantasy series are contained in this release.
Plot is OK but am getting tired of the constant "family" speeches and other melodramas. Especially tired of someone yodeling a song in the background; sounds like American Bandstand more often than not and distracts me from the dialogue. Hope things improve or they've lost a viewer.
Oldie but goodie before the days of CG and we laughed more than once - especially watching the guy in the costumes knees move when he walked. If you like to trot down memory lane and get a good laugh this is for you.
Rob Reiner's tale of boyhood friendship, Stand by Me, comes to DVD in this special edition. Boasting a 1.85:1 widescreen anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital Stereo in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, the disc includes a multitude of language subtitles. For those who wanted to know how to say "Chopper, sic balls" in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, or Thai, this is their golden opportunity. In addition to the well-done visuals, there is a commentary track from the director as well as interviews with him and author Stephen King, whose story served as the basis for the movie. In addition to talent files and production notes, an exclusive featurette concerning the making of the film is included. The music score can be isolated, and a music video for the Ben E. King title song is also available at the touch of a button.
Adaptation of Stephen King's story - but not a lot holding it together other than kids bonding and really never got that much into it. Others might like it so will recommend it for that reason.
This release features the complete fourth and final season of the PBS period series Mr. Selfridge, following the exploits of businessman Harry Gordon Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) as he attempts to maintain his retailing empire and social stature in the 1910s.
This final season of Mr. Selfridge is just as excellent as the other three - sad ending that anyone knowing his story would be prepared for - a likable but self-destructive genius - highly recommended series.
The fifth season of the popular ABC series Once Upon a Time continues as the characters head to Camelot to find the Sorcerer Merlin in the hopes of freeing Emma (Jennifer Morrison) from an ancient evil that threatens to destroy the world.
This series was great when it first started with evil queens, Rumple Stiltskin and the premise; now has degenerated into a sloppy soap opera with heartfelt chest-beating confessions and speeches, the fun bad guys reforming into boring good guys and overall not as much fun to watch. Hope the next series improves.
This release compiles every episode from season nine of Murdoch Mysteries, a detective series set in 1895 Toronto based on the mystery novels of Maureen Jennings.
Wasn't as happy with this season as the others. Think writers are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Fun characters like Sherlock Holmes weren't in this one and Terrance Meiers and James Pendrick only in one. Was hoping Dr. Francis would return after Dr. Grace left (my least favorite character). OK Dr. Ogden came back but of course have to be PC even in that era and have a female assistant which wasn't needed previously. Hope the next season improves.
This visually stunning release goes underneath the waves to take a long, peaceful look at the picturesque Great Barrier Reef, the largest living structure on the planet containing over 3000 individual lifeform systems, and often populated by some of the most beautiful and unique animal life on earth.
