More Halo. Halo-ing Halo. By yourself. This is a very fine game, and if you're a Halo fan you should get it.
For me, though, one of the stand out features of Halo is the ability be joined on the couch by a friend and play through the story. My wife enjoys Halo, and we can occasionally play together... but not on Halo 5

Does What it Needs To

This little device does just what it needs to. Nothing fancy, but a useful addition to the Hue system. I've set ours up to turn on the lights in the stairway, which we only use when use when actually walking up or down the stairs. The lights go on, then when our travels are done the lights dim and turnoff after a minute (these settings are all customizable).
Obviously, you need some Hue lights and a bridge. A little pricey for what it does. But, worthwhile...

Best Shooter I've Played Years

The title says it all. I've played call of duty every year from the original (maybe the best single player ever), and my shooter history goes all the way back to wolfenstein in the early 90s. This rounds up the better aspects of most shooters available.
The single player has a fresh take on story: You don't play a campaign to determine the outcome of the war, but rather a set of stories from the point of view of various soldiers fighting in different ways. Excellent.
Multiplayer: You have all the standard modes and standard-seeming classes, but there is a lot of depth here. The class system is deep, balanced, and adds a bunch of strategy. You want to run around and shoot people in the face go for assault, you want to help the team and be the key to winning go for medic. Don't forget you get some of the best sniper play in gaming, and you can rock some awesome power in the support class. And let's not forget the game modes. Operations is the most war-like shooting I've ever played. Very cool...

Great Game &a Media System

So, I've been a PlayStation guy since the original, and I've had every generation of PlayStation including the PS4. My lovely wife has enjoyed the Xbox for years and is a Halo girl, so for an early Christmas we got the house an Xbox One S.
Let me get the fanboy out first. I do think the PS4 is better. Better controller (quality, features, and layout), better operating system, slightly better performance. But that doesn't take anything away from the Xbox One, which is a great system and I really recommend it. There's just a certain flavor to it, and the Xbox One S has the right level of performance and offering of games to make it worthwhile as the sole gaming system in a house.
If your friends are on Xbox, or you like the Xbox game offerings, then the Xbox One S is awesome. Add in the great 4K blu ray support and you have a winner... I will say, unfortunately, the media player is a little buggy--but not enough to break it.
Go ahead and pull the trigger, you'll love it.

The Echo Dot is, potentially, one of the best devices you can buy. The full Amazon Echo is better, but the only true difference is the speaker--which is phenomenal on the Echo, and just this side of okay on the Dot. The Dot overcomes this by providing two methods of connecting to external speakers. You can pair it to a powerful bluetooth speaker or plug it in using a normal 3.5mm jack. You can have it set up to a full home theater system if you like.
Aside from the speaker it retains full Alexa functionality and that means you have access to the best digital assistant available. Better and more charming than Siri, much more lively and in-tune with your life than Google. And your perfect gateway to a smart home.
Paired with various skills (apps), you can control just about any smart home device. We use our Alexa devices to control everything from the lights, via Philips Hue, our home theater via Logitech Harmony Hub, and our Christmas Tree with a Belkin WeMo smartplug :)
Highly, highly, highly recommended. We have an Echo downstairs in the Kitchen, and two other Dots to make things complete.

Best Lighting Solution for the Smart Home

I enjoy my gadgets, so for years I've wanted to achieve the "Smart Home." This past year the smart home has become much more attainable through products like the Hue lighting system. There are lighting alternatives, from wifi switches to lights without a hub, but none of them offer the blend of value, flexibility, and power of the Hue system.
You do need the Hue hub to control the bulb, though it will simply turn off and on with a normal light switch. But, once paired to the hub you simply name the light in the Hue app on your phone or tablet and you have full control of it. Just leave your light switch on and control the light through the app. The real power comes when you integrate it with either Siri or, preferably, Alexa (through an Echo or Echo Dot). From there everything is controlled by voice.
My usage:
- 4 Bulbs in the Kitchen
- 3 Bulbs in the Dining Room
- 2 Bulbs in the Stairway
- 2 Bulbs in the Entryway
- 2 Bulbs in the Office
- Additional Color bulbs in the master bedroom and living room
- 3 Bulbs in the Dining Room
- 2 Bulbs in the Stairway
- 2 Bulbs in the Entryway
- 2 Bulbs in the Office
- Additional Color bulbs in the master bedroom and living room
Combined with my Echo I can walk into my house and say, "Turn on downstairs lights." And, voila, all the downstairs lights. Just as importantly I can ask Alexa to dim them to a certain percentage of light, which is particularly nice. Combined with third party apps I issue commands like, "Turn on Wait," and all the lights in the house turn off except my entryway. Or, my favorite, "Turn on Show Time." All the downstairs lights turn off except my living room lamps which dim to 40%. Sweet.
If that seems like a lot of money to spend, keep in mind that these bulbs are LED and draw very little power and they designed to last over 20 years! They are more expensive than normal LED's, but you're paying for the functionality and smart bulbs without a hub are much spendier--if you're doing a whole house then these are the bulbs to get.
I did almost dock a star for reliability, as I have had two bulbs fail quickly. I have not had to deal with Philips on these, but Best Buy's return policy was very easy to deal with. I do believe those two were an anomoly--these bulbs don't glitch, they don't do anything weird, they've been flawless. App integration across multiple programs is always interesting to set up, but these bulbs have been awesome.

There are better printers out there, but this was perfect for me and my girlfriend. Easy setup with 2 computers, 2 iPads and 2 iPhones. We don't do any real batch printing, but no complaints for light use--event tickets and random recipes.
There are printers worth spending a little more money on, but if you're not interested in anything more than a simple value printer this is a good buy.
