I had an older kenwood in my boat and replaced it with this. The Bluetooth works wonders in the boat but I would stay away from the remote app that kenwood offers. With the Bluetooth option I didn't see a need for the app so I stopped worrying about it.

Every tv I own is a Samsung and every tv I recommend is a Samsung. This was no different when grandma asked me to find her a new tv for her bedroom. No really fancy features to get confused with, about as plan as you can get. Some may say partial things about that but for grandma it was as simple as they come. Grandma now has her own tv in her bedroom where she can watch old people stuff and drink her morning coffee.

Not for Grandma

My 80 yo grandmother was in need of a new tv so being the caring loving grandson I picked this up for her. As being a religious Samsung buyer I was leery but I simply picked this based off the price tag. Well come to find out this isn't an old person friendly tv. (Yes, Grandma is still extremely sharp and active. She travels monthly from the Midwest to the Caribbean to scuba dive.) If you want to watch strictly Ruko then I'm sure it's fine. Every time the tv would power on Ruko was the default and there was no option changing that in the settings. So you would have to change the input every time to watch simple satellite. The remote wasn't the simple traditional remote with a number pad with a few fancy feature buttons. This remote was very "streamlined" with just simple directional pad and a few other random buttons that were multifunctional. The initial setup process was very long and a pain, even for me who has a good working knowledge of home electronics. So after several phone calls throughout several weeks of her asking how to get back to watching satellite I said enough. I boxed up and headed back to BB to exchange for the old faithful Samsung 5 series. I had the Samsung programmed and fully functioning in minutes. Not that I don't mind grandma calling several times a week but since the switch out it hasn't been tv related.
So the moral of the story is if the person using this tv is in their later years and not tech savvy, I would say to keep looking because the simplicity of just turning it on to watch basic satellite tv isn't there.

Best Bang for the Buck but be Patient

Like most I have 4 different remotes for my entertainment system components. I was looking for something that wasn't going to break the bank but stil have the functionality I was looking for. The reviews looked positive so I gave it a shot. Some people talk about setup being a pain, just have your model numbers ready and just not your typical make to make it easier. The functionality of the remote worked great for the first 1-2 months with everything turning on/ off in the proper sequence. Now about 75% of the time my receiver won't turn on to the proper setting to watch tv. So I have that remote on standby to correct that issue. Over the last few weeks the remote is having issues powering things down and will not do anything. A message will appear on the remote that keeps it from doing anything. I haven't rest the remote to see if it corrects it yet. The display and function selection is nice and simple to us. Others have issues with DVR settings and having Dish I have yet to have any issues with that or watching Netflix.
The initial thought for this remote was finally I can hit one button and watch tv. Current thought is I wonder if this time everything will work as it should with one remote on start up.
This could of been 5/5 but the hit or miss on start up with dual remotes is keeping it from achieving that. Most don't have that issue so hopefully a remote rest will resolve that issue.
