I looked at a few systems my first choice being Bose, which I have a few of their items at home, but not wanting to spend a couple of thousands of dollars I looked at the SONOS and HEOS. Ultimately I went with the HEOS and picked up the HEOS1 to put in the hallway under a chair. Anyhow it sound amazing, ultimately I will probably move this speaker to the bedroom and replace it with the larger HEOS speaker, but HEOS1 has great sound quality and bass and worth the 200 bucks.
With this Denon HEOS HomeCinema soundbar's 130W output and powerful wireless subwoofer, you can equip your home theater setup with rich, cinema-quality sound. Dolby and DTS decoders offer enhanced audio and the HDMI input enables flexible connectivity.
I did a lot of research and listening to different systems and ultimately, I really enjoyed the BOSE Soundtouch with Bass module, but for $1300 it was not in consideration. So it was down to the SONOS and the Denon, I went back twice to Best Buy listening to them both. I thought the Denon had richer sound and at $600 it was half the price of the SONOS soundbar which costs $600, plus adding the subwoofer was another $600 and still the sound was not as good. What I did like about the SONOS is that it does not use your WIFI to create the link between the SONOS unit like the Denon. My house is 4000sq ft and the router is in the basement with the Denon soundbar in the living room, upstairs 30 feet away. I have had almost no issues with connectivity and also have a HEOS1 in the hallway. We have an older TV, but the Samsung will let your sound come through your Optical connection allowing my TIVO remote to control both the TV channel and the volume through the Denon system. CNET mentioned that setup was difficult or tough to use, but the on-phone app walks you through it without and issues. You might have a problem if your TV does not allow control through the optical connection then you are stuck adjusting volume with your phone, which would be extremely annoying. You can also add a Denon Receiver to the HEOS system which I plan to do in the future.
