Pretty Good Phones for Average Use

Typical wireless phones that work well. Large screen makes it easy to see numbers, etc.
Only downsides as far as I'm concerned are the handsets all default to a fairly loud beep on every key press, and they also default to spoken caller ID. Last thing I want is four handsets all reciting the calling number when the phone rings. So you have to shut off the beeping and the talking on each of the four handsets individually -- a minor hassle, but no biggie as the menus are pretty easy to navigate.
Also, it would be nice if they had a mini-jack to plug in an external headset, but that's probably a bit high-end-ish for something in this price range. (Bluetooth would be even nicer, but... :)
All in all, a good set of phones for average use.

Not a gamer - just needed a laptop for general purpose use and some music recording and editing and a bit of photo editing using mostly Canon utilities and Adobe Lightroom.
I knew it didn't have a DVD drive - no biggie as I can always use an external on the rare occasions one might be needed. But I was surprised to find no network jack. Well, an external dongle is okay (Apple users are used to this...: ) And there are several USB3 ports available. But after using the wireless a bit, it seems more than adequate for my purposes. So the dongle sits on a shelf... lol
I did remove the 750GB spinning disk and replace it with a 250GB SSD. In spite of being a bit nervous about the mod, it went very well. Used a Toshiba SSD I got at Best Buy and it fit right in. (Make sure you do a complete backup to a 16GB flash drive for the restore to the new disk. There's a utility for that included on the laptop.) So I restored the image to the new SSD, loaded all my apps, and still have 190GB free.
Bottom line is I'm very pleased with the machine and it suits my needs perfectly. The only negative I can think of is it's a bit difficult to open the silly lid! There's not much to grab on to around the edges. But that's certainly not worth a downgrade from five stars.
It might not be suitable for high power users, but for the average user, it's a fine machine!

Is it problematic without an ethernet port? Is there a workaround?
I have a Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin speaker that requires updates occasionally. I download them to my laptop and connect to the speaker via Ethernet and it updates the speaker. Not sure how I'd get around that...
A network dongle is available in most places for around $20-30. I think mine was about $30 and has a couple extra USB ports on it as well.
