Required by the CFA institute when taking the CFA exam. Although the design looks much much more up-to-date than the HP 12C Financial Calculator (another calculator approved by CFA institute), the user interface still looks pretty old. The logic of operation for the calculator is pretty dull as well, but I guess people who purchase this calculator does not have a second option.
One major disapproval from me is that it feels impossible to change a fresh battery. User not only needs to unscrew the back, but needs to tear the back cover apart as well, since its attached to the front. I did not do so because I am afraid that I might break it.

I'm taking a Finance class and I find this calculator much easier to use than the HP-10. If you have a lot of experience with TI calculators, then this one should be fairly easy to learn. TVM keys are easy to to work and and conveniently located. My only concerns are that it doesn't feel as sturdy as my TI-84 and the buttons are a lot stiffer too. Additionally, the button placement is arranged a little differently and I constantly find myself turning the unit off when intending to clear data from the screen.
What's great about it: Easier to use than the HP equivalent; Easy to learn
What's not so great: Buttons are a little stiff; Takes some getting used to
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Financial Calculator

this is a great financial calculator for any finance student or people in the financial working world. it has the ability to do just about any financial calculation (annuities, annuities due, NPV, IRR, cash flows, general investment problems and much more). it is fairly self explanitory to use and if it isnt then the paper insert on the cover will tell you most of what you need to know. the only downside i've found on this calculator was trying to find the NPV of cash flows in the billions of dollars because the calculator only goes to 10 digits and i couldnt find the 'carrot' symbol so i had to round off a few of the numbers
What's great about it: Variety of financial calculations
I would recommend this to a friend!

As any Texas Instrument calculator that I have owned in the past, this calculator does all the functions I need it to do. I purchased this calculator for a finance class, and it has worked for all the application I have done so far. The calculator was $10.00 at Best Buy than other stores. I would suggest this calculator for other business students and anyone who is working with Time Value Money problems.
What's great about it: User friendly

I had BA II PROFESSIONAL already but the key strokes on this one are very soft which increases your efficiency to type. It does not have NFV which is why you need BAII plus. But you can compound NPV to get NFV. Amazing product I love it it has certainly increased my speed.

I do finance tutoring. I've taught students with both calculators. I own both calculators myself.
TI Cons
The TI is not nearly as intuitive as people claim. The complexity it adds, does make it a little easier to check errors in your calculations. However, this also leads to erroneous answers if you aren't careful about resetting your registers.
TI Pros
It's inexpensive and it's durable.
What's great about it: Price & Durability
What's not so great: Ease of use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
