Bad chargers
on October 16, 2024

We bought an Oral-B Pro 1000 rechargeable toothbrush a few months back for its size and advertised use. The charger did not work, it would not recharge the toothbrush. No problem, we had an old charger that worked just fine. Yesterday we bought a second Oral-B1000 rechargeable toothbrush for the same reason as the first. Again, the charger doesn’t work and will not recharge the toothbrush. We are again using the old chargers we have from our old toothbrushes. We like the product but quality control of your chargers is missing.

We're sorry to hear this, Bruce. With the extensive quality tests that our brushes and chargers undergo, we expect them to give your smile a great clean for many years. This surely isn't the result we expect, so we'd like to learn more. When you have a chance, please give our team a call at (800) 566-7252.

Clean teeth but poor design
on February 5, 2025
Posted by: Poor design
My teeth felt super clean since first use. My teeth feel as clean as after my hygienist polishes them.....However, the timer pause feature is an extreme annoyance. Even though I know it's a normal feature it makes the toothbrush feel as if there's something wrong with the battery or something internally is stuck. I would prefer that Oral B not do my thinking for me and give the option to turn the timer off. I can count and/or look at a click. I've noticed other people have the same issue as my 2nd problem which is power it off. It's very annoying one must either hold on the power button for three seconds or press it three times to shut it off. Having this speed feature may be a good idea but having a separate button would be better design as the choice given to turn it off either causes a mess on the mirror or fumble around with it in your mouth. I wonder ORAL B had any product testing or if someone in development team made an arbitrary decision because that was his or her preference. Both issues I see with this brush seems to indicate little thought when adding these features. The two problems are minimal and more of an annoyance than a problem with it's function. It would be nice if companies used real world typical use in their design. With the amount of money companies spend on product design and R & D one would think this would be much better design but seems they don't it's there money's worth.

Good toothbrush but charging light way too bright

As a toothbrush it's great. I feel like it cleans well and is comfortable to use. The charging light is ridiculous though. It's so bright and flashes so much when charging. I can't sleep with my bathroom door open because it's so bright.

We're very sorry the flashing light on the brush is causing a distraction to your sleep, when charging. A lot of thought goes into the design of our products to create features that we think you'll love, and we appreciate your feedback about this. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’d like to further help with your questions or concerns. Please give our Oral-B Team a call at 1-800-566-7252 from 9AM -- 6PM EST Monday–Friday.

Disappointing on many levels
on April 8, 2026

My 15-year-old Sonicare electric toothbrush has worn out. I went online to look for a new one. Lots of advancements in 15 years, lots of reviews to analyze.
The Oral-B 1000 is highly recommended across many review sites. I was intrigued by the round brush head design, it looked like it would reach around my back teeth better than a traditional brush head shape.
I bought one based on those recommendations and I am really disappointed.
You can take minimalism too far.
The battery indicator is just a single green LED light, so there is no way to know how much power remains in the device. Cell phones, laptops, watches all have a battery icon or a display with percentage, something quickly identifiable as “power remaining.” I charged it out of the box and it took a shocking 24 hours before the little green flashing light shut off. My Sonicare charged in 8 hours.
The body of the toothbrush has a nice oval shape, but it is very slippery. The little golf ball-like dimples on the backside do nothing, my hand slips as I use it. It has two bumps on the back to keep it from rolling when laid down on the counter, but they really aren’t effective. The instructions say you can leave it on the charger all the time, not everyone has space on the bathroom counter for the charger, which uses electricity all the time.
There is a rubber section on the front of the handle, with a clearly marked on-off spot. However, there is no indication that the lower portion of that rubber section is where you change the brush mode. No markings, no lights, nothing to let you know which mode you are currently using.
Instead of a gentle vibration, this toothbrush makes an uncomfortable amount of noise and vibration for its size which isn’t pleasant inside your mouth. Instead of a gentle beep letting you know to move to the next quadrant, the device strongly vibrates twice.
It doesn’t shut off after two minutes. That’s ridiculous. I’ve used other electric toothbrushes and they all shut off after two minutes. Why would the designers leave that out? Instead, it vibrates three times to let you know that you have to push the off button. When I pressed the off button, it changed modes! I had to press it several times to shut it off.
The brush head has a remarkable number of faults. The stem is too short and too thick; I choked once or twice while trying to reach back teeth. It also has an odd hole in the front, where toothpaste and gunk can get inside. Photographs of the brush head don’t really give you a sense of the scale of the brush head which is surprisingly large and hard to maneuver around back teeth.
Interestingly, my spare Sonicare brush heads fit on the stem of the Oral-B, although they do not seat down completely. They fit in my mouth, get to all the corners and will do until I buy a new Sonicare.

Just bought this...
on December 22, 2012

Oh man! I actually look forward to brushing my teeth now! I had that "other one" and I ended up getting that "dingy-mouth" feeling only a few hours into my day. Now, with The Oral-B 1000, my mouth stays feeling clean until my second brushing.
If you're worried about any "features" missing, this one has 'em all. I also love the fact that I can use a wide variety of replacement heads. That's the real kicker for me. Definitely a purchase I would make again!
Made a great Christmas gift too! I hope!
I know, I sound overly excited about this but, what can I say, I love my teeth and they love me!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Died Right After Warranty Expired
on January 9, 2014
Posted by: Canoemandan
This is our 3rd Oral B toothbrush purchase. Our last one lasted a very long time.....probably longer than Oral B would have liked. When that finally died, we bought Oral B again because we had such a good experience. We bought two more upon our last purchase. Now, one seems okay yet but, the other is just noisy, slow, and the charge runs out quickly. Maybe the brushes were lasting too long and Oral B engineers were told to engineer them to fail. I guess we'll buy another Oral B but if we have the same experience I'm going to look at other brands.

battery life is not great
on October 26, 2020
Posted by: cherryrouge
i’ve had my toothbrush for three weeks now. it cleans your teeth nicely but my problem is the fact that it has a terrible battery life. this is my first electric toothbrush, so i’m not sure if it’s normal or not, but it takes 22 hours and sometimes longer just for it to fully charge. and then once it’s done charging, i use it one time for two minutes and the battery light is blinking red telling me it’s already low again. its strange and a little frustrating. it’s also very loud and kind of sounds like a lawn mower. so heads up in case that’s something that may bother you. not sure if i can recommend this toothbrush though, based on the battery life alone.

Oral b professional
on March 1, 2014
Posted by: KEARDH
Our office highly recommends not only this model but all oral B electric toothbrushes with a round brush head. We have found as a periodontal practice that the round head tends to allow patients better brushing at the gum line and the oral B is easy to use and encourages longer brushing time. I personally switched to this from a "sonic" tooth brush and feel like I am getting a much better clean. I have personally disclosed after each type of brush and the oral b was much more efficient . I hope oral b continues with a round brush head alternative on all their brushes. I would look forward to trying other oral b products!
