Does Not Fill With Enough Water for Washing
on May 15, 2019
Posted by: Clarify
Some areas of the clothing are still dry when the load is finished. Soil remains on the clothing. I watched how much water fills the tub during a wash, and I found just what I suspected. Just enough water fills the tub just to wet the clothes a bit, and then the tub begins to oscillate. The clothes don’t move anywhere during the wash cycle. It’s just looks like a pile of wet clothes on a merry go round. The fact that the tub is going in circles does nothing if the clothes aren’t actually IN WATER, they are just going on a ride.
I have to rewash the same clothes repeatedly, it’s a domestic nightmare!
I even use the “Water Plus” feature. This machine clearly has a sensor problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

HATE! Gross Brown Residue which Nothing Resolves
on November 23, 2019

I HATE this washer with a passion. Nothing I do can get rid of the brown residue that coats my items when a cycle ends. I've done all the recommended steps with vinegar soaking, tub cleaning cycles, Affresh tabs repeatedly and religiously without any improvement. As someone who struggles with skin infections I cannot tell you how much I'm upset by this. I've even tried using the WaterPlus option to see if it would help - nope. Here's a photo of today's experiment. I washed a white blanket that was clean (had washed yesterday in someone else's machine). Here is the result. Also, the inability of this washer to even wet all of an item being washed is another issue. The positives: it fit down the stairs to our laundry room.
Pros: Style/Design

How to Get the Best Results from a HE Top Load Washer: Always use a laundry detergent with the HE label. These products are formulated to create fewer suds which is important since so much less water is used. More is not better when there is less water in the mix. Most loads only require one to two teaspoons of HE liquid laundry detergent or one single-dose pack. If you do not use the automatic detergent dispensers, place the detergent in the bottom of the drum BEFORE you add your dirty clothes. All single dose laundry packs must be placed in the bottom of the washer - never the dispenser. This will give the detergent the longest amount of time in the water to help get your clothes clean. When you load a HE top load washer, do not pile the clothes in the center. Evenly distribute the dirty clothes around the edges of the wash plate. This will help balance the load more quickly and speed the wash cycle. For best performance, load clothes as shown in manual on page 14. Load clothes loosely, and do not load clothes over the maximum guideline on the tub. Clothes need room to circulate in order to get clean. So Intuitive and Clean Clothes Too
on December 26, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 4 years ago and am so happy with this purchase. The large tube has come in handy so many times. I was hesitant about that feature; thinking an extra large tube and a water efficiency model was an oxymoron. But, all my loads, even large loads of towels or bedding, come out clean and fresh. This is my first LG appliance and I’m sold on the quality!
Pros: Performance

Big as a Jet Engines
on April 16, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love LG products, but in this case, I've got a major case of buyer's regret. I dream of beating this washer (and it's partner -- the dryer) with a crow bar every time I do laundry. Why do I hate them so much? I ordered them sight unseen from a local appliance dealer at a great price, which was my mistake and the reason I haven't requested they come and take them away. First, they are both the size of jet engines. I kid you not. They take up a ton of space for no practical reason. The gigantor washer tub might be great for a large family, but you can't wash 10 pairs of jeans in a few inches of water and now-a-days, technology controls the amount of water we use to do laundry to the point of being ridiculous. A huge drawback is that you can't reach the bottom of the tub, (which is where laundry ends up after the spin cycle!) unless you have cooking prongs to reach down and grab with. Awkward and inconvenient, to say the least. And who designs these high tech washer/dryers with all of the useless bells and whistles anyway? People who are driven by technology, but don't do laundry, that's who. The surface is slanted on both the washer and dryer, which makes them virtually unusable for any other laundry-related activity, such as folding clothes or leaving a basket on top. Are they efficient? Well, I'll give you examples of the dryer's capability, which tells the whole story. It takes 1 1/2 hours to dry two sets of bath towels, a kitchen towel and dish cloth OR two sets of sheets with 3-4 t-shirts thrown in. Two pairs of adult jeans and four pairs of board shorts takes about two hours. That should sum it up for you.

would be awesome except for some flaws
on April 29, 2015

I generally like this washer except for the following items:
1) the programming for the movement of the tub could be better. it adds water many times when it had just positioned clothes around the edge from spinning. it should shake a bit to get them to settle down so when it adds water it goes to the clothes and not to the bottom of the tub directly. 2) the draining of the tub sometime is horribly noisy like a pump running with nothing to pump. 3) the controls should not be changeable after the cycle has started. if you open the top and reach in and rub against a button by mistake you are messed up as it changes perhaps something very significant.

Expect scratches
on May 19, 2014
Posted by: tram297
from Orlando, FL, USA
Scratches appeared on the control panel within minutes. Before the delivery truck left the driveway we had scratches, and every time we load or unload the washer more scratches appear. The scratches either come from buttons and zippers on the clothes you're loading or unloading, as they drag over the front of the machine, where the controls are located. Or the scratches come from the buttons and zippers on the clothes you're wearing while you're bending over to load or unload. Either way, we are displeased. Our less than two month old washer looks like we bought it from a scratch and dent sale.
Pros: Style/Design, scratches

This product has a huge tub.
on March 13, 2014

I have only had the machine for a little over a month. I have not used all the settings as yet, I am still getting used to the product. I have been able to wash a huge comforter with no problem, it is wonderful. The only problem I have is being able to reach all the way to the bottom for small items, I did not realize just how big the tub is. My friend has joked that I might fall in and not get out. My daughter came by to use my machine and she must have put a weeks worth of clothes in. My LG was able to handle it. The only problem is that she tried to fill my dryer full and it is not as big. I like being able to see the machine work through the glass top, it is amazing. The design of the machine is very impressive. The machine makes very little noise. I have been happy so far with my LG, I am glad I chose this machine. I am planning on purchasing the matching dryer, when my current dryer quits.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, huge stainless tub
