The over all design, lighting is great!

After researching and looking at refrigerators for over a year I finally decided on this model. I like all the features that it has, especially the design of the ice/water dispenser and the lighting inside is great. This is my second GE refrigerator and I am happy with my purchase.

We love the look of this fridge. It's bright and clean looking on the inside. So far it seems spacious. My only complaints are that there is no tray to catch spilled water at the dispenser and I have to pull pretty hard to get the freezer open. So far these are just minor annoyances! There was also plastic caught in the creases when we unwrapped it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was eager to get a french door fridge, so when our old fridge went out for good, it was time to shop! I love this fridge! It has so much space and I love the Slate color. The dual ice cube makers come in handy for when we have parties and I love the large interior drawer. It is great for platters and also for kids snacks and lunch meat. I love the temperature controls. The overall design is great for functionality and there is room for everything!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Early review and some general observations

I've only had the refrigerator less than one week, and here are some of my initial comments/observations:
1). No dairy (butter) tray in the door - If this is a big issue for you, I would NOT recommend this model. Unfortunately, we didn't notice this prior to purchase.
2). Noise - The refrigerator is noisier when running than all previous refrigerators we've had and we can hear it running up to 20 ft. away. Its not terribly loud, but it is noticeable. If you have a home with an open floor plan, this may be an issue for you.
3). Fingerprints on outside of refrigerator - While the refrigerator body is "slate" and fingerprints don't show (the main reason for our purchase decision), the handles WILL definitely show fingerprints, so be aware! Its not serious, but the handles will need to be wiped down periodically.
4). Running time - After installation, the refrigerator ran continuously for 1.5 days before reaching an acceptable internal temperature for the unit to shut off. While not a problem, I wanted to mention it in case someone was concerned.
5). Great inside space for food storage.
6). Ice and water dispenser - Ice holder in the door is smaller than I'm used to, but the dual ice maker in the freezer is a nice feature for entertaining, as well as being able to operate both ice makers separately..... a nice feature! You can remove the freezer ice tray for extra storage BUT be aware that there is a low placed ice lever switch, so any items placed where the ice container is located may hit the switch. The ice and water dispenser work very well.... so far.

Love the look and slate color

Our first refrigerator was delivered and the water dispenser/ice maker on the door did not work at all so we were told to contact the place where we purchased and they would order us another one. They did and 10 days later a new replacement refrigerator was installed. Everything worked--yeah!!! Now, a month later the second ice maker in the freezer compartment is pouring water into the ice cube tray and all into the top drawer of the freezer. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! I surely expect something brand new to work longer than a month before having to be repaired (this doesn't count the first time)!!!!!!! At least my last refrigerator (GE) lasted 39 years and that is one of the reasons I chose GE again--thought it would last a lot longer than what I am experiencing!!!! Do we have a lemon or is this a huge issue with the new refrigerators????
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
