Nice microwave

We really like our new microwave. Like that the inside is white, so you can view the food while cooking. The buttons are easy to use.

Vent fan runs all the time

The vent fan runs no matter what setting it is on. We had a service guy come out he said it was probably a malfunction and it was best to return it for another one. So now we have to rake it down return it and order another and wait another 3 weeks for it to come in. Not a happy camper!

It may be pretty, but run!

We purchased all Matching GE appliances brand new, including this microwave. 2014 I believe. The refrigerator had issues immediately and was warranty replaced a little over a year later. The stove had cosmetic issues on the front and had to have parts replaced before it was even installed because the panel peeled off the front. The microwave has been OK up until the last three years where it started making some crazy noises with the turntable on like it was hanging? But, it has continued to function until this past six months. Upon heating things like macaroni and cheese you get sparks. At first I thought maybe it was nonstick coming off of the pans, but it started happening with everything, making me think the sensors were malfunctioning? Just this week, when you open the door the fan would start and not stop running. We tested to make sure it wasn’t heating, but it would start as soon as the door was opened and continue until it closed. A quick search will tell you this is apparently a common issue. Five days after that started, it now will not do anything. The timer will count down but it does not turn on. I have never had so many issues with appliances! I am fixing to replace my 20 year old GE refrigerator that was thankfully kept as a backup and became the primary again, and it makes me sad because I know what I’m facing!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please keep in mind it's not possible to determine the actual life expectancy of an appliance since many variables are involved, such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance (ex. high humidity; near the ocean; etc.), care, and maintenance. At 7 years of age, your microwave is probably not cost effective to repair and we would suggest replacement.
