Heats up fast

Our old GE microwave was not heating up food the fastest anymore, we got this one at a great price. So far very pleased with it. Liking the features and how fast it heats our food.

only down side - have to turn on kitchen light at night to see control buttons. no backlight on control panel and night light does not give enough light to reach control pal choices

Works well and looks good. One thing is that when we use fan, it makes noise like whistling. Also the light bulb below the microwave gets super hot.

As a microwave, it works. And while this may seem petty, I did a little facepalm at the design of how to just get it to quickly microwave something. The button to just start with 30 seconds, and add 30 seconds is ... good. But frankly, there are so many times when you're *NOT* microwaving something in 30 second or 1 minute increments, so you have to first press "Time cook" before you can then go type in the time and then hit "start". I'm often microwaving baby bottles -- at night. 38 seconds is the magic number. If you just hit "38" it will auto-start for 3 minutes. I don't want to have to hit the "Time cook" button before every blasted microwave operation. Stop it please. I'll use <1 minute microwaving times 500 times before I'll use the 5 button to auto-start on 5 minutes.
Suggestion to GE: Have 4 buttons only, each of which auto-start the thing:
- Add 1 second
- Add 10 seconds
- Add 30 seconds
- Add 1 minute
- Add 1 second
- Add 10 seconds
- Add 30 seconds
- Add 1 minute
And for extra credit, have a "Remove 10 seconds" button. (I had that on my last microwave. It was wonderful!)
In the end, I blame myself for purchasing this thing without doing my homework on how the thing operates.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
