Works fine but very loud

Microwave works fine but is very noisy. It appears that the vent fan kicks on every time you run the microwave. I don't know if this is a GE thing, or just this model or what. I'm trying to decide whether to return it for a different brand/model or not. I've never had a microwave this loud.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for the review. It's great to hear that your microwave works fine. We're sorry that it's too noisy as we understand the inconvenience. You may find the vent fan is changing speeds or getting louder while it is running. This can be normal. The fan will automatically kick up to a higher speed when set on high. This is done to compensate for the added back pressure. To override, starting with the vent fan in the off position, press the vent fan pad twice to get to the medium speed, or three times to get to the low speed.

Inferior quality GE brand?

Our previous GE JVM6175EFES no longer operated properly as of 1/1/2022, it was 5 years old. The replacement that we purchased was this model, JVM6175EKES. When this new microwave was delivered, there was no GE logo or anything that would identify it as a GE product on the box. The box label read, "Over the range Microwave oven". Sadly, this microwave is built cheaply and looks that way too. I removed the circular medal GE emblem logo from the broken microwave and added to this new one, bc even the logo looked cheap, maybe it isn't even a GE product? Disappointed customer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Subtle design, versatile heating options/functions, quiet operation ( even with fan on high setting) and intuitive controls make this an all around excellent microwave.

I’ve had my new microwave for almost three months. Within the last few days, the microwave has made random loud noises, like super loud humming or squeaking noise. I think it’s time to call for a warranty visit. Way too soon.

It is normal to experience a humming noise when the microwave is not in operation. The transformer emits a slight humming sound that is usually not noticed. The transformer is used to power the clock.
