Good but noisy

Our new microwave is fine. It does everything a microwave should do BUT it makes a racket. You can’t hold a conversation while it’s running !!
I would recommend this to a friend!

We're happy with it. We installed it ourselves, and the installation was difficult because the template didn't seem to be accurate for the holes that we had to drill in the top cabinet. The microwave itself is working as expected. Heats things up will. The microwave is relatively quiet. The vent does come on automatically, which caught us off guard and is a bit annoying because of the noise, but we understand that it is a safety feature, so it's okay. When it comes on automatically, the vent fan cannot be shut off manually--it has to shut off on its own. Overall, we're happy with the purchase.

Purchased to replace an older unit that started to malfunction. This newer, higher-priced unit works well. I have not spent much time with the sensor features, but I have used it for warming many things using timed cooks and it heats well. On top of being used as a microwave, there are two other features that are requirements of over-the-stove models: fan and light. I must say, the fan on this unit is much better than the older one. I'm not sure what effect the internal carbon filter is meant to have on air pulled through it, but I like the fact that it's filtered through something other than the metal mesh. Also, the fan, like our previous model, has two settings: high and low. On the previous model, I would describe them as high... and slightly less high. This one has a much more distinctive flow between high and low (thanks for that). Now let's talk about the light: again it has high and low. The old unit seemed to work well in this regard. I did have to replace the bulbs once over the life of that unit, and I always wanted low to be a bit brighter, and high to be substantially brighter. This newer unit delivers a bit more brightness with high and a lot less with low. Low, in fact, doesn't seem particularly useful to me. But maybe that will change when I buy a new stove that doesn't have a black top. The light on this new one does have this strange behavior when it switches from high to low: it toggles itself off briefly. This is something the old unit didn't do. The first time I tried to use the light, I actually thought there was something wrong with it because of the "off" period between high and low (only lasts half a second or so). It's not a deal-breaker but definitely strange. The biggest gripe I have which is what I'm removing 2 stars for is noise. This unit, despite being over 10 years newer and several models higher in tier than our older unit, is substantially louder in operation. I would have thought that buying a more expensive model meant you get less noise (this has been true for other appliances I purchased, like dishwasher, generator, etc), but not for this microwave.
