Had the same model in stainless, that stopped operating. I decided to get the same model in black, as I no longer want to polish stainless. The black model appears cheaply made, the door operates like a cheap countertop strip model, and makes an odd clicking sound when it is activated, before it starts microwaving. I have my fingers crossed that it will hold up longer than the previous one I owned. Also, did not have the same mount holes. My kitchen cabinet over the stove is full of holes on the bottom.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor performance

I bought this product in Jan 2022 and it needed repair and new parts in 2022. That is less than 1 year of operation. Buyer beware..

This is our second GE Microwave!

Our first GE microwave was already in the house when we bought it. I'm not sure when the original was installed but it still looked brand new and lasted 17+ years with absolutely NO problems for us. When our old model "crossed over the microwave rainbow bridge" we wanted the new one to be as close to what we'd had before as possible. Being technology challenged... we were very happy to find this model and that it was relatively the same but with some nice new added features. The sensor mode is very helpful. I reheated some ravioli for lunch today and was amazed at how perfectly heated it was without my having to guess at a time for it being hot enough to eat. The 30 second add on time button is very handy too. Defrosting is very simple and efficient and I can't wait to try the "melt" option. I often splatter butter by heating it too much so I'm anticipating a nice change! All in all we are VERY happy with our choice! Nothing makes you appreciate technology more than being WITHOUT a microwave oven for over a month! Now if only new phones were as easy and simple to replace!

Tin Can

You asked for feedback, here it is. If I could give zero stars, I would. Cheap door latch feels and sounds like a tin can when opening and closing. Fan is vented outdoors, but still blows exhaust out of ventless hole at the top. Can’t wait to see what that does to the cabinet above. Control panel requires way too much finger pressure. And no, all GE slate finishes are not equal . The only plus is that the microwave works.

Concerns regarding the door handle quality will be taken into deep consideration by our product teams as they review your experience. Regarding your vent fan, it is important to assure everything is working properly for you. The tissue test can be used to check for proper draw of the vent and this is how you can test it. Turn the vent fan on HIGH and hold a tissue or paper towel under the vent area. The suction should hold the tissue or paper towel in place with the draw equal on both sides. It is normal to have some air blowing out of the top grill.

new microwave

This microwave replaces an older microwave I inherited with my house I did have a slight issue with the install, I wasn't aware that microwaves come different opening options but I was able to work it out and it fits snug as a rug.
I would recommend this to a friend!
