We are happy with this microwave oven. The low fan speed is quieter than the previous model. We like the instant on features, and the recommendations the unit suggests for microwave time on various foods.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The surface light is a VERY DANGEROUS feature!

I am very unhappy with one aspect of my new microwave and that is the surface light. The amount of heat that it puts off is VERY DANGEROUS! It totally heats up the inside of the microwave and should someone touch the glass covering the bulb area while fully lit that could get burned. This is a very serious design flaw and needs to dealt with before someone has a fire or gets seriously injured. I am tempted to return the microwave and buy a different brand.
The other features do work well. I would like to hear from someone regarding this problem . Can a different bulb be used perhaps. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Easy and great replacement after our old GE died. Fit very nice into the same space and matches our other GE appliances nicely.

Since we moved to our house in 2003, we have all GE appliances and we really love it. This year we changed all them to all GE appliances because it was already tested that they last long and a brand you can trust.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good, but overall quality less than my older unit

I bought this OTR microwave to replace a similar GE microwave that had stopped working after 17 years. The new microwave is slightly larger (1.7 cf vs 1.6 cf). The two microwaves are similar in features, but the old microwave had a removeable shelf that the new one doesn't have. Also, the new microwave has a very bright LED clock with no way to dim it. Subjectively, the new microwave does not seem as solidly built as the old one, in particular, the door seems a lot flimsier. However, while the quality seems to have gone down a step, it feels adequate to do the job, and it has worked fine in the limited time I've used it. I'll be happy if it lasts as long as the old one.

We needed to replace our 20 yr old GE microwave, looking for another reliable appliance we could depend on for a long time. This model fit the bill and made the process incredibly easy due to using the same brackets on the same dimensions. Works great, looks great and fits perfectly!
