Good microwave with unsafe features

The quality is very good for the microwave features but the lights in and under are halogen and very dull and yellow and very very HOT, in fact, you can get burned touching the lens on the underside of the microwave. What a bad design!

Great features, but it is going backwards.

This is the second GE microwave oven I have purchased in four years. The first one was very similar to the new one I just bought. The old one broke down after about 4 years and in my opinion too quickly, which makes me question the quality and safety of GE products. The oven started to turn itself ON when I opened the door after the end of a cycle, which was also very unsafe. To take the food out I had to unplug it first. After a few days of that, the oven stopped heating completely.
When the oven was working, I liked it and I liked its controls, so I decided to give it another chance and buy GE product again. I hope I made the right decision, only time will tell. The new oven is quieter now, and the controls are still intuitive and easy to operate and have enough features. What I do not like about the new oven is the very bright display, it is way too bright and there is no way to dim it down. It lights up the kitchen at night and it is bothering my eyes, so I had to put a partially opaque tape over it so now I can live with it.
I was also surprised that the light bulb inside the oven and the surface light underneath (I have over the counter model) are still old type incandescent lightbulbs. I expected LED lights by now, but apparently not yet. What is up with that GE?
