Flimsy quality compared to previous models

This is our 3rd GE over the stove microwave in 27 years, and I'm very disappointed with the quality. First the installation- can't understand why the back mounting bracket and hole locations from the top need to keep changing. That said, the quality of this unit is a joke compared with the previous two units. The touchpad is cheap and requires significant pressure to respond and the door and handle are extremely flimsy. Finally, I'm not sure why the top air intake is wide open with no grates for an appliance that sits under a cabinet where things might drop in.
We like the Slate color that GE offers, but if this is the direction of the quality, I guess it's time to shop different brands. (I don't mind paying more for something of better quality.)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We hate to hear that a hard-to-use control pad, flimsy door, and an open vent at the top have left you feeling less than impressed with the quality of your new microwave. We also understand the confusion caused by mounting holes that move for seemingly no reason. We are constantly updating and improving our appliances, and sometimes that can necessitate a change in shape or appearance while not changing the model. I just finished installing this microwave and have a few issues.
1. Nowhere in the installation guide does it mention a clearance distance for the door to open fully. After installing I realized I don't have enough clearance for the door to open fully. I was able find a guide online that shows 1/2" is needed. I have a max of 3/8" so my door won't fully open. It's manageable but annoying.
2. I have my fan set to blow out the back, and while I can see that the vent works from the outside, I can feel air blowing back in when the fan is on. Not sure this is avoidable, but it leaves me a little worried about how well the fan will actually clear smoke when i cook on my stove. Time will tell.
Other than that the microwave looks nice and I'm hopeful it will work well

The minimum distance from the door hinge side to the adjacent wall is 1/2", and the cabinet opening/cutout for the microwave should be a minimum of 30" to accommodate space for the door to open. Bad product

Oven stopped heating after four years. Very disappointed at this GE product; our GE electric stove is algo defective (doesn't transmit the correct heat, only high) and the lower handle in our GE refrigerator keeps on falling. Low quality products, again big disappointment.
