Poor performance, like a 30 year old microwave.

The performance of the GE is somewhat disappointing. This replaces an Over The Range GE microwave from about 30 years ago. It is essentially no different. While other makers have gone to true power control with inverter technology, this uses the same crude cycle on/off system as decades ago. There is also a sensor that is supposed to determine when the food is done. It works very poorly, or actually most times not at all. If the food to be reheated is too cold or a bit larger than their arbitrary amounts, the result is "Sensor Failure" and the heating stops. Very poor operation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Beautiful product, replaced an older GE model which lasted 24 years. Fits perfectly under cabinets over stove, very quiet operation.

Just replaced my last one which was 6 years old but belonged to someone who was seasonal so not a full 6 years. The new one is OK so far, don't like that the clock light is bright white rather than the prior soft yellow. But the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the door handle squeaks like it's hollow cheap plastic. Last one was very sturdy. I can see this breaking in a short time but hope I'm wrong.

Poor ventilation

This microwave works the same as my 25 yrs old kenmore. But the ventilation is useless. For being a new technology, I expect better, but that is not the case ay all. The fan sounds very loud but has no suction power at all. Very disappointing.
