This GE model microwave was a good purchase several years ago. When it was time to replace it, we went with the same model because it met our needs well. We've had great experiences with GE appliances.

I need more light!

These comments are about JVM6175 above the range microwave.
Depth of this microwave is much deeper than the one it replaced. Sticks out from cabinets just over 3 inches. The clock needs a dimmer as it's too bright! (you can only turn it off)
NEEDS MUCH BETTER SURFACE LIGHTING! ONE TINY LITTLE LIGHT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING ENOUGH LIGHT!
My last GE microwave had two hi-intensity lights which produced great light. I don't know what your designers were thinking?

Great quality and value microwave

Microwave was packed well. SS on front looks great. Beverage function has worked well...hot, but not boiling. Quiet operation. To remove the unit from the box, instructions suggest cutting the base off of the box and lifting the box off. A little awkward, but made it easier to lift, after a bit of a task to cut all around the thick box. Secondly, the bracket was different from the same size GE model I was replacing. The new design should have been made to allow use with prior brackets. Hole location above for cord was different also, so now I have two cord holes in cabinet. Not a problem for new customers, but should have been taken into account by GE for replacement customers as myself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

While the microwave does exactly what it is supposed to do, I am a bit disappointed to the way the parts feel compared to the one that was installed when my home was built 10 years ago. This one feels really plastic like (especially the handle) and a little on the light-weight side in terms of the actual door itself. When closing the door, it does not feel smooth or high quality and sounds hollow and loud. I noticed the numbers on the display are on the larger side but I can live with that.
I would recommend this to a friend!
