Long term performance

A microwave is supposed to have a working life of 7-10 years. I live alone so it should be closer to 10 years. I used the microwave to reheat my food items and make hot water. No long cooking sessions. I have owned this microwave for less than 2 years and it is no longer working. The letters GE is just used for name recognition because they no longer make appliances. It is time for the new owners to make a better product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This was a lemon. Purchased this model microwave in early 2022 and it died a month ago. A repairman said the magnetron was dead, and it would cost more to repair than replace the appliance. Exploring other brands for replacement. My trust in GE is shot.

So far the microwave has been great. Nice range surface light and vent fan is not as loud as our old microwave, especially on low setting. Good heating. Have not used it to cook other than frozen veges and to reheat leftovers. Sometimes it seems like you have to press controls fairly hard to operate them. Microwave looks nice wirh a sleek design, and it matches our GE gas cooktop/electric range very well. Easy for my husband to install

Little lightweight vs. previous units.

Loyal GE customers. We are aware of GE sale to Haier. Our new microwave does not feel a substantial as past models. Operates fine, keypad a little too stiff. Had to change mounting bracket after 29 years in our home( other GE used same bracket over the years), small work around and alignment.
I would recommend this to a friend!
