We purchased and installed in December. By January, the sensor failed. My old microwave operated trouble free for 12 years before anything failed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Quiet! I don't know what other readers were talking about, this is not loud, not difficult to open and heats food in 2/3 the time of my previous microwave.

GE Slate Microwave

Used for over 2 months. Vented outside, (over the stove) does a great job venting and I think an excellent purchase. Easy to use and enjoy the surface lite and night lite. Love the slate no fingerprints, very happy.

This microwave was installed in a newly built house by the builder. It works great. Heats food quickly. I also use it frequently as a time. The only thing I can't figure out is how to make the timer sound once time is up. I need to read the manual.
