I bought this microwave about six months ago, and it has worked fine. And it DOES have a night light, but you have to set it.
Problem is, I placed a bag of popcorn in it the other day, and the bag had ONLY just started expanding, so I know the bag is not the culprit, and there was a noise and crashing. I had stepped out of the kitchen for less than a minute, and when I came back, I saw that the shelf - when did we start putting metal in microwaves? -- had fallen from the top right rear shelf holder, and there was black from the top holder to the bottom. The top holder had separated from the wall, and was nothing but a holder-shaped piece of carbon. There was also a horrific smell - rubber? electric? combo? Not sure. I just unplugged the appliance and waited for my husband to come home.
I would give it five stars for the overall experience, zero for the experience of that day and possible unknown or undocumented safety issues. The same will apply to the NO below until I understand what happened and know that it got fixed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good even heating & features. Low contrast control

The oven looks great. It heats evenly and the sound is minimal. Lots of good features including the sensor. We used the popcorn setting and every kernel popped without burning the popcorn.
I am disappointed in the low contrast of the text on the controls. I find them very hard to read. Text is gray on black. White on black would have helped or some illumination behind the panel.

We purchased this microwave to update our kitchen appliances. It works well, it's easy to clean. However, be careful, the stainless steel handle scratches easily.
