Door doesnt slam as hard as past microwaves

Great appearence, poor performance

I always trusted GE appliance until I bought this microwave. It looks great. But 90% of the time after you close the door, the light and the fan automatically turn on. You almost need to slam the door to avoid that. Also, when the food is done, it does not beep to let you know that. Furthermore, the exhaust fan does not quite work. We got a lemon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still getting used to new microwave

We had a GE microwave that was 32 years old, still worked but missing lots of features microwave has now. We were replacing all appliances and after reading reviews and checking with wirecutter site settled on another GE over the counter type. Works great, it's just that we are not used to how fast it cooks yet and all the settings. Our old microwave came with a great cookbook that told you exactly how long to defrost certain items etc. This new one doesn't have a cookbook and not much detail, so it's kinda of you having to use and learn. I am satisfied and love how easily it cleans out.
I would recommend this to a friend!
