The 1.7 CF GE Over Range Microwave is the Best!

Being so satisfied with my previous GE white Spacemaker over the range microwave that serviced me perfectly for the past 18 years - there was really no contest or other than GE brand I would want. My choice was which GE stainless steel over the range microwave would I choose and that would compliment my new stainless steel GE slide in gas range - as I update my kitchen from white to stainless appliances. I chose the 1.7 cubic foot JVM6175SK2SS. It’s not only absolutely beautiful and perfectly matches my GE range, this microwave isn’t feature packed. From weighted time defrost thay actually defrosts yet doesn’t ‘cook’ the food, to the melt feature that perfectly melts butter and chocolate and other delicate foods, to the potato, beverage, reheat and popcorn features that truly work - GE has gotten the sensor feature of this microwave down pat working perfectly! The add 30 seconds feature is great, Express Cook is “one button Heaven” to save you keystrokes when you want 1-5 minutes of cook time: put your food in, hit 1-5 and watch the countdown on that beautiful white LED display. The top front loading charcoal vent filter, 2 speed vent fan, 2 level over range light and the 1.7 cubic feet of space make this the perfect choice. I’m very very happy and am a GE customer for life - again! I highly recommend this over the range microwave.

Great replacement

So far meets all my expectations. Replaced an older model GE microwave and fit like a glove. All the holes matched and was a breeze to install.

A solid machine

We've had our GE microwave for nearly 6 months now and have no complaints. It heats the food up quickly, the buttons and features are simple to use, and it looks sleek, too. We really like the potato feature, too! It's amazing that the microwave knows, despite varying numbers and sizes of potatoes, exactly how long for a perfect baked potato without turning on the oven. Our favorite feature, though, is the ease of muting the noises. For some reason, microwave button beeping drives us crazy, and to turn it off on this microwave, is as simple as touching a button.

I really like my GE products - BUT the key pad doesn't light up and I can hardly see were to press cancel/start etc...

This was purchased to replace a microwave that stopped working. For this purpose it functions well. Some of the features I dislike are having a machine "talk" to me. When the time is up, there is a scroll that says food is ready. Turning the light off it scrolls light is off. I know enough to figure out what has happened. I just wanted a replacement, not something that tells me what is happening.
I found the door difficult to open until I realized grabbing it at the top of the handle made it easier to open.There was no instruction manual, probably one is expected to relay on the messages the unit sends.
