Works, but ...

So far, the microwave works as advertised. But...
We got the fingerprint-resistant stainless steel version, and while the metal fascia is indeed fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, the metal-look applique on the handle, the part you actually touch, is not fingerprint-resistant. It's a bit like saying you have a rain-proof home...except for the roof.
The control buttons are SUPER hard to press, and the "hitbox" (video gamers will know what I'm talking about) is tiny, meaning that nearly every button press actually takes 2-3 presses to activate it.
The door sounds super hollow and it's tensioned door latch springs reverberate in the unit after the door is closed.
The light is a super-warm-colored halogen with "fine" brightness. Why isn't it LED in 2022? And the type of bulb means LED replacements are tricky to find. They were super easy on my 13-year-old GE microwave which used small screw-in bulbs.
While the fan is quieter than my 13-year-old model (this new one's "HIGH" setting is as loud as my old one's "LOW" setting, it's still quite loud. For the filter that's supposed to be replaced every 6 months, it's a pain that you have to use a screwdriver to remove a panel to access the filter. This should be toolless.
I get that it saves money that the metal mounting bracket just has the horizontal bar and not the two vertical side bars, but those vertical bars from my old microwave mount made installation so much easier than on this new microwave.

It does not warm evenly warms the bowl of food not the food , and not consistent in the good! Wish I keep my 15 year old GE microwave!

We recommend covering your food for a better outcome. Covers hold in moisture, allow for more even heating and reduce cooking time. Venting plastic wrap or covering with wax paper allows excess steam to escape.

Spews grease, Plastic on handle peeling off

The plastic handle is already pealing after just a couple of years of light use, I have only used water to clean. Spews thick sticky grease up my white cabinet uppers over four feet in each direction all the way to the ceiling. Grease drips into cabinet uppers, I spend hours cleaning the outside and inside of uppers and ceiling each week. Error messages constantly, sensors always needing a reset. Have to buy an expensive charcoal filter every 6 months if it doesn't vent outside.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having with the excess grease you're finding on your cabinets, the peeling handle and the issues with the sensor. Your model comes from the factory ready to be vented outside. If your installation does not permit external venting, this model can be converted to internal venting which requires a change to the configuration of the blower motor and the installation of the charcoal filter. We strongly encourage you to clean the grease filters located on the underside of the microwave and depending on how often the vent hood is used, the charcoal filter should be replaced approximately every six months. The charcoal filter is available to purchase from our GE Parts & Accessories Store --

The amount of grease you've described may be an indication the grease filters haven't been cleaned regularly, the charcoal filter hasn't been replaced as often as needed, or the microwave wasn't installed properly when it was purchased. The grease you've described comes from cooking on the range below. The microwave itself doesn't create any grease.
