Mine last just over the year warranty expired and then it would not heat anything. The lights, fan, etc worked, so there was obviously power & it would run but nothing would get hot. Had it fixed, and same problem happened again. Bought in 2018 and just died for a third time. Not going to have it fixed. Swapping out for a non GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great, easy to use controls.

Like everything about it but one concern. Being an under cabinet installation, extending 2" further than cabinet, it has several openings on top allowing small items to drop down into microwave. Not all openings are covered by vented covers. Contacting store where purchased and GE service reps, and online parts, it was determined that nothing was missing from our appliance. I will have to take care not to place small items in cabinet over the microwave.

Died after 1.5 years

This microwave was installed by the builders in our house. It worked fine for 1.5 years until it died on Thanksgiving....conveniently just out of the warranty window. I have had cheaper microwaves that have lasted 10+ years. I will be looking for an alternative replacement.

We've noticed if you leave the light on underneath, the entire inside of the microwave heats to a point you can't touch the glass plate.

Shorts out regularly

We’ve had nothing but trouble from this thing. If you run it longer than 5 minutes, after it stops, it shorts out and will only turn itself back on after about an hour. We’ve had someone out three times to repair it because after turning back on, it doesn’t heat. Now it’s busted again, but it’s out of warranty, so we’re probably going to chuck it and get a new one, but it won’t be GE!
