Works well, had a GE above stove microwave before this one but it died. (8 yrs old) We like the GE product. One issue that is really bothersome to me is that the vent connection, holes for the screws and power cord are not standard year yto year. Install was not easy. All above stove microwaves should have common connections for the vent, screws and power cord. It would make the install so easy. Only reason it got 4 stars.

After 23_years, I had to replace my GE microwave. Bought sight unseen at local dealer assuming it would be GE quality...WRONG. It is a piece of tin. Have to close door carefully so sound doesn't reverberate through the kitchen. Wonder about insulation. Works OK, so far, but don't have high expectations. It wasn't expensive but trusted GE to make a substantial product. Wrong again.

Beware if you don't vent your microwave to outside

I'll confess, we didn't read the entire instructions book. My son has installed at least 2 other microwaves for me, so felt so need to read it. But then, about 2 weeks after it was installed, when we needed the vent feature, it was not pulling any of the smoke. I got out the instructions to check out the troubleshooting to see if it said anything - nothing. I looked further into the instructions & discovered if you're wanting the recirculation feature instead of having it vented out, you have to open up the back of the microwave, make an adjustment on the fan & reinstall it, before putting the microwave up. I've never had any other microwave that didn't default to the recirculation feature. This is just ridiculous! We'll now have to take the microwave back down and make the adjustment then put it back up again. They should at least have some print in red cautioning this extra step where it will easily be seen by the buyer. Other than that, the microwave is working okay.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Died in less than two years

We’ve had this microwave for almost two years. Yesterday after microwaving soup and closing the door it sounded like it started running again in extra high mode and then it shutoff. I’ve unplugged it and from what I’ve read there is no way to recover from it.

Made not to last

Second GE microwave purchased in 4 years. This is 13 months old and out of warranty and stopped heating. Very disappointed in the product and will not buy GE again. Not made like they used to!
