OTR Microwave

I purchased this unit to replace our 9 year old GE OTR (Over the Range) microwave. In all aspect of things, GE was kind enough to utilize the same rear mounting plate as the older model. There are some few subtle differences from the new and old.
With that said, installation was easy since the new unit mounted to the older hardware. The only thing I had to add that wasn't included was duct tape for the exhaust vent.
As far as features go, I noticed a few advancements in the reheat feature. I'm glad I stuck with this one since I like the buttons on the right side and the door swinging out to the left. All the new feature-full models all went with sleek hidden buttons along the bottom and some without a handle. Well, my 7 year old tends to be very independent and I would supervise her climbing on to the counter, putting her chicken nuggets in the microwave, and pushing buttons. This works for me and I don't have to worry about the stove being hot or anything for her to use it.

Can’t read face of unit. It is too dark. I have always had and enjoyed previous GE microwaves, but not this one

Replaced existing ge that the plastic disintegrated. Heat from stove top.

Fits in space where 25 year old GE was

The microwave is powerful and heats, reheats and cooks really well. The under microwave light leaves lots to be desired. It is against the wall and does not shine any light towards the front of my range. My old GE had a light more toward the center and did a better job. The old one also had a minute button to add two zeroes that is missing on the new one. The touch sensitivity could be better. A quick touch does not always work. Overall does not match the old one but does its job well. Bought another GE as the old one was from 1995 and still working. The decorative door frame cracked so it was time to replace. If the new one gives me 25 years I will be very happy. ( I really miss my temperature probe but no one makes them anymore.)
