Less than expected

The reason I purchased this model is because it is replacing the same model that was installed in 2019. Though I spent more money for this model, my intent was to make the install more seamless, even though the prior model only lasted 6 years. However, upon unpacking this new unit, I discovered that the mounting bracket was a complete redesign from the unit purchased back in 2019, which required a full install. Removing the old bracket which had the wall hangers and drilling through tile which was labor intensive requiring much more time to install. Had I known the mounting was completely redesigned, I would've went with a different unit. But it IS installed now, so let's hope it lasts longer than 6 years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Really Disappointed

I was disappointed to learn upon installation that the door of this microwave will not open a full 90 degrees because the microwave door itself is so deep that it hits the cabinet when open. Come on GE…these Over The Range appliances are made to standard openings. The doors should always be made to open at least 90 degrees. This is a big flaw in your design and one that may very well prevent me from ever purchasing another GE microwave. As it is, I am disappointed to have to live with this one.
Also—why is the Surface Light still a halogen bulb? It’s hot. It’s not as bright as other manufacturers’ microwave oven lights that are LED. And the GE Surface Light on this model seems to do a better job illuminating the back of the surface at the detriment to the front of the surface.
Overall, I’m pretty disappointed and most definitely suffering from buyer’s remorse.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not as advertised

Underpowered. Says 1000 watts but performs at less than 700 watts at full power. False advertising in our opinion. Looks like our old one but best we can say is it fits in the same space above oven.

It’s just ok.

The dish comes off the rotating track easily and makes an annoying thud sound as it turns. Shows fingerprints far easier than my last Whirlpool microwave. I like the mute feature though. Oh and the first one arrived dented so I had to wait for a second one to arrive.

Not as nice as my 14 year old model!

I bought this microwave oven to replace a similar one I had for 14 years! I'm disappointed in the "mute" feature since I was hoping that I could reduce the loud noise the oven makes during the cooking operation. I'm also disappointed the bright/white clock light cannot be dimmed.

fail on the handle

The sensors are good and the light is fine. Fan very weak. Biggest fail is that the entire handle just broke off!! I can't believe it!

Top vent concern

I love the way it works, but I am dismayed that the vent grill doesn't cover the whole top. The openings at the top seem like things could fall inside.
