This microwave is perfect. I had a little problem putting it in but I sat down and got it fixed. The oven cooks perfectly and we are very happy

Works great, hard to see display though

As a short girl, the control panel on a vent-a-hood microwave is, by nature, far away. The thin font and grey coloring of the numbers on the buttons makes it difficult to read. The microwave works very well though! I was also frustrated because this microwave was chosen specifically because it was compatible with a 3” filler accessory. This accessory is grossly overpriced but I was willing to pay it to cover the gap in my cabinets but the filler kit is AVAILABLE NOWHERE. So... great working microwave hanging out in a big ole gap!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Microwave looks great and works well. The handles still shows fingerprints. The display menu is very difficult to read, requires brightness and lights to be visible. It will be nice to have a backlight or a different background for menu visibility

2nd GE Large Microwave Purchase

We previously owned a GE SpacemakerXL Microwave Oven. It served us well for 15 years. We researched other GE OTR Microwaves when we discovered GE no longer made the SpacemakerXL. We found this model for over the range. We like it, but we have a few constructive criticisms: 1st- we dislike the cooktop light/night light location at the center rear of unit! It does not fully light the stove area or stove controls! The Spacemaker had those lights on each side of the unit. It provided an overall light to see everything clearly!
2nd- we are disappointed the vegetable sensor feature is no longer included as a choice! We used this feature 90% of the time and liked the selection available for fresh, frozen & canned it offered.
On a brighter side, we were able to install the new unit using the same Spacemaker brackets. That was a hugh Plus! We had a white Spacemaker and were satisfied with the color. This time we went with the stainless steel fingerprint free color. It looks great! It is fingerprint free on stainless steel. However, we see the fingerprints more on black front door area and feature buttons area compared to those same areas on the white Spacemaker.
We hope to get the same life span or longer as we did with the GE SpacemakerXL.

Love the matte metal finish, and needed the feature that the door doesn't swing past the side of the microwave into the adjacent cabinet.

BASIC, BUT NICE

We just wanted a basic model for microwaves because we don't use all the other features higher end microwaves offer. This is perfect for what we use it for!
