Dead in three years!

We purchased this model GE (JVM6175DKBB, serial #RS250293L) February 3, 2022. It worked okay. Then, a few days ago it stopped heating anything, though the clock and timer still functioned. Today, a repairman pronounced the magnetron dead and said the cost of repair would exceed the cost of replacing it. Really disappointed to have it die in just three years. Have to order a new microwave. Now what? Order a GE hoping the brackets and cabinet holes match but risking another short-lived oven?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No longer a reliable appliance

Worked fine for almost 4 years. It replaced a model that was installed by the previous owner of the house and worked for the first 8+ years we were in the house, so presumably it was at least 10 years old. GE microwaves are no longer a reliable appliance.

Very Disappointed

Bought this microwave brand new 3 years ago and it already broke down. I heard a pop and it will not heat up any longer. Very disappointed because the manufacturer warranty is only 1 year and I failed to renew the extended warranty 2 months ago.

Great features

The large capacity is great for those family dinners and the controls are easy to see and use. The installation went smoothly and the lighting is bright and helpful at night along with the ventilation doing a great job even on low. I am very happy with this purchase. We stayed with GE as our last microwave lasted 25 years.

GE Microwave only lasted 6 years!

My GE microwave only lasted 6 years. I bought it in 2019. In 2025 it is now not working and I have to replace it! It won’t heat anything. But it still turns on and goes through the motions. I’m not happy am not happy have to replace it already!

Garbage! This microwave blew out within the first year and half. I don't use the micowave often and one day while eating up an item for 5 minutes it below out. The cost to fix is more then what is is worth.

Beautiful microwave with great features.

I absoultely love this GE over the oven microwave. I selected it because of the beautiful Slate color when we replaced all of our kitchen appliances when we remodeled our entire home. The finish is finerprint resistant and looks so beautiful with our navy blue and white cabinets. the 1.7 cubic capacity is perfect for heating up veggies or simple meals. When pans on the stove top put out too much steam, the ventillation fans clear it right out. The controls are easy to use and it provides and additional timer along with the stove for cooking multiple dishes. Even if you have used a microwave for years, it is well worth the time to read the manual as it has important information pertaining to the features of this model. It also has suggested cooking times if you are not used to using a 1000 wattage microwave. Finally, the dimensions worked perfectly in our kitchen without needing any fillers on the side. I love these appliances and am glad i purchased the extended warranties so they will be covered.
