I bought this microwave not realizing that the control panel was the same color as the front door. You can barely see the numbers, etc with all the lights on and not At ALL any other time. Day time or whatever. If it hadn't been mounted over the stove I would have taken it back to store. The light on the stove is useless. You can't see at all to cook. Right now I have a lamp shinning on the burners. I have ordered brighter lights to put in and hopefully I will be able to see to cook.
I have never had this kind of problem before and am very disappointed that I am stuck with this appliance.

Product looks good. Works well with not much noise. Don't like the fact that when you shut the door at any time there is a fan that comes on automaticly and you have to wiggle the door to get it to shut off. The timer will not automaticly shut off either you have to touch the button to make it turn off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

what's with the fan?

I have it for a few days and I cook a lot. as designed the microwave is above the cooktop. The fan won't stop. It is loud and frustrating. I cook a lot.I do not want the loud fan on all the time!!!! help!

Hello estik,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your microwave. All GE and Hotpoint microwaves have an automatic fan as a safety feature. This fan automatically turns on if the unit is overheating. This is in addition to the fan switch that manually controls the exhaust fan.
The built-in thermostat causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150 degrees F. This feature helps protect the electronics components and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The thermostat resets itself and the fan shuts off when the surface area cools to approximately 150 degrees F or less. You will not be able to turn the fan off in its automatic state.

Disappointed

It looks nice but the door handle broke shy of 3 years of normal use and is expensive and a hassle to get repaired. Several others are as disappointed

Not working straight out of the box

We ordered this 6/3/16 and it was delivered to the store 6/08. I picked it up 6/9 and had someone out to install it 6/13. It Did NOT work straight out of the box. Electrician checked everything in our home and it is not our electrical. Very disappointed that we now have to wait until 6/22 for a service call to see if they can fix this or order a new one. That may mean an even longer wait. What should be an easy fix has turned into one long headache.
