Really quiet.

Can't believe how quiet this model is compared to our old one. Comes with a rack so different items can be heated at the same time. Also turntable eliminates the need for rotatng your food. Many cool features on the touch pad too.

A most disappointing investment!

I purchased 4 major G.E. appliances in a week's time....stove, fridge, dishwasher, and microwave. The microwave has been a nightmare.It stopped functioning in the first few days of use. It was worked on by the gentleman ( a G.E. merchant)that sold these 4 items. It is, AGAIN, not functioning . A most frustrating situation, to say the least.
As if this was not enough, the fridge came to me with a bad dent in the lower freezer door!! Hopefully this will not be the story with the other appliances!

Loving this Microwave!

Purchased to replace an older over the range GE microwave in the new Slate color. I love that the turntable is flush with the bottom of the microwave instead of the edge protruding up like our old microwave. I do wish GE had made the handle out of Slate instead of stainless steel as I'm always wiping fingerprints off of it. I choose the Slate color to avoid fingerprints so having a slate handle would make more sense. The operation of the microwave itself is great though! I especially like the reheat feature which senses when the food is perfectly rewarmed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We like it BUT

Very nice and efficient BUT not user friendly if there is'nt a good light source to find the right selections its very hard to see your selection. Why hasn't someone noticed this Before production? A simple L E D light switch that lit up the buttons would be great!

Needs better button placement

When I remodeled my kitchen 2 months ago, I bought 3 of the GE Slate appliances (would have liked to also buy a slate wall-oven, but none exist), and the microwave is my least favorite. First let me state the positives: It's attractive. I like the rotating carousel. There are plenty of handy features. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do.
Now for the negatives: The exhaust fan is very loud. It has a flimsy, tinny feel to it. It kind of feels 'cheap'. The timer needs to be turned off after it counts down. The biggest negative, in my opinion, is the keypad. I think the most-used buttons should be placed at the top or bottom - somewhere other than embedded in a row of buttons. For me, the most used button is Cook Time, the first button I usually press, but it is the 3rd button in a column of buttons. The Timer button is another one I use fairly often, and it is the 2nd button in that column. I sure it will just take some time to get used to the button locations, but it doesn't seem intuitive or very user-friendly.

Love, love, love the slate color! Purchased the matching range. I had this same microwave in white....works great. The slate color is very easy to keep clean.

I bought this microwave, recently, and got it for a steal. It's beautiful, streamlined, and very modern. Beyond that, it's easy to use and energy efficient! This microwave (and the entire suite of Slate products) are highly rated, and getting them for a steal just made the whole process enjoyable!
