This microwave is chuck full of features so you'll have to sit down and read the manual to fully understand how it works. It has plenty of power to get the job done and it goes well with my totally GE'd kitchen. This microwave vents to the outdoors which I love. What good is it to re-circulate smokey air? This microwave rocks in my book and I'm sure others love it too...I know my wife does!!!

Replacement for Similar GE

We had our previous GE microwave for 8 years and the control panel had begun to intermittently stop working. All of our appliances are currently white, but we hope to transition to all stainless and this was a great place to start. It's supposed to be fingerprint-less, but the plastic handle isn't so much. Otherwise, it looks great and so far does the job well. Two issues for me seem to be some of the "keys" seem a little difficult to get pressed on first try. My husband has not had that problem, so it could just be me. ;) The second is that the fan always comes on when you operate it and it's very loud. I just read a previous recent review that GE responded to and said that should not be the case and maybe we should contact the installer or GE support? There IS a note on the inside frame that says, "Fan may start automatically." I might have looked for a different appliance if this is truly the case and can not be remedied. For that reason I'm giving this a 4.

We went from a very outdated microwave to this basic GE, but still updated, microwave and are shocked by how much better it works!!
