Not so hot, hard to push control panel

The features providing various controls like the mute feature are great including the express cooking. On the negative side, This is our 3rd ge microwave and we are not so pleased. It seems to take quite a bit longer to heat the food. In addition, you have to use too much force to operate the control panel. These two issues overwhelm the good looks and features. Considering returning the unit. In general, I would recommend GE products, but not this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi HenryS6000 - Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're happy to hear you appreciate the additional features like "volume control" and the appearance of this model microwave. We regret to hear of your dissatisfaction with the operation of the control panel and the time it takes to heat or reheat your food. There is a performance test you can use to determine if the microwave is heating properly:
~Place a glass bowl (preferably a 2qt. glass measuring bowl) with 1qt. of water in the center of the microwave cavity. The water must be 59-75 degrees Fahrenheit (15-24 degrees Celsius).
~Heat the water for exactly 2 minutes 30 seconds on High (this is the default setting).
~A temperature rise in the range of 28-40 degrees Fahrenheit (15-22 degrees Celsius) indicates that the oven is cooking properly.
If your microwave does not pass the test, we would recommend service as the unit is covered by a one year manufacturer's warranty. If needed, please call 1-800-432-2737 M-F 7am-10pm, Sat 8am-6pm, Sun 8am -6pm EST.

Controls were different from the previous unit, but am getting more familiar with them. So far, this microwave works as expected.

Bought the microwave in April 2018 and it now no longer warms up the food. For the cost of this microwave, I would have expected it to last longer than 2 years 8 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Couldn't be happier with this choice. Reasonable price, powerful and helpful features I didn't even know I needed. For example, the mute button- turn beeping sounds off when necessary. Perfect for anyone with a sleeping baby!
