We love our new microwave! It looks beautiful in our kitchen, works amazing, surface lights and vents are all great! Warms food up exactly how it’s supposed to!

Works as a microwave should. Wish fan was a little stronger and that the "black" area of the control panel was not a really dark grey. Doesn't match the other appliances we have.

This is a fairly basic OTR microwave that just works really well. It operates quietly. I was impressed that the cavity was made of metal and not plastic. It looks good with my other GE appliances. I like the fingerprint resistant finish.

very loud fan

We just bought this microwave in November. It has a very loud fan that runs all the time while in use. We contacted GE and was told to unplug the unit and see if that didn't fix the problem. If that didn't work, try resetting the breaker. When neither worked, they scheduled a repair service to come out. After a phone call by the repairman, we were told this is the way it is. GE now uses the exhaust fan as the normal cooling fan. So, when using the microwave only, the fan runs as a cooling fan for the unit. If it senses that stovetop cooking is heating up the unit, the louder exhaust fan will kick in. Sorry GE, but had this been posted on your website, I would have looked for a different brand. This is a very loud fan in a small kitchen! I am not happy that this was not disclosed up front!

Hello Dorisf, thank you for the feedback. We're sorry the fan is too loud. We know this must be annoying for you considering you didn't know more about the fan feature. We apologize for this information not being more readily available. Over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components, and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot, and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. We have passed your message on to our product team so that they can evaluate this for future consideration. Well, the installation was more difficult than expected, considering it replaced another GE microwave of the same size. But it seems to work OK on the first day.
