GE Microwave

We really like this microwave though, I think our previous one had started to fail months ago before it died. That was a GE too, and that had lasted 17 years. If I can get 17 years (industry standard is 8 years) use out of this one, I'll be happy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a nice fit to your remodeled kitchen.....had a counter microwave and stove vent fan.....decided we wanted more counter space....this worked out well

Good power but super noisy

We have always had a GE microwave but the last 2 have been less than great. We just installed this one however we bought it early for a kitchen upgrade because of be the delays with Covid. I attempted to return it but it was past the 2 week return window with the store.
After it was installed we learned the vent fan runs all the time with nothing on the cooktop below. The owners manual says the fan may go on if the cooktop below is hot but no mention of it running every single time we use the microwave. When I called GE for help, I was told that’s the way their microwaves are now. They got 2 stars because it’s nice looking and power is good . But it’s noisy and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. If this is the way GE microwaves are, this is unfortunately our last GE.

Hello - We apologize for the issues you've had with your microwave and understand how this would be frustrating. All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components, and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot, and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. However, the vent fan should not run all the time without using the cooktop. We recommend taking advantage of your warranty by scheduling a service appointment with an authorized GE Appliance technician who can accurately diagnose and correct the issue.
