Haven't had much chance to use it, but what I have I loved it! scans fast and doublesided, which is a feature I've needed. Would recommend.

I recently purchased the Epson Workforce DS-510 Color Document Scanner. It was very easy to set up.
This scanner can feed a lot of paper very quickly, with great looking PDFs for your on-line, or computer-based, files. The toolbar that's downloaded with the scanner software makes saving your PDFs to your desired folder location very simple.

Epson Work Force DS-510

I have a top of the line Scan Snap at work and this Epson Scanner, which goes for half the price, is easier to use and just as efficient. It meets all my scanning needs, and I have a lot of them! I'd recommend this scanner to anyone. Fast, easy to use and reliable.

This type of scanner has a unique Problem!

The nylone shaft which is responsible for rotating the Rollers breaks after about 3000 Pages and there exist no spare part. The whole set mus be changed.

Fails in 12-18 months, I bought 5 of them!

The Scanner when new works AWESOME; however, somewhere between 12-18 months it will fail. We bought one for each of our 5 employees in our accounting dept.
They all have the same problem, they still scan 1 page just fine, but jam on multi-page documents. Useless. I bought the user replaceable rollers and that is NOT the problem.
The duty cycle says 3,000 pages per day and we probably only scan 100 per day! So at 18 months, that means we never exceed 36,000 copies before the machine breaks.
So, according to the specifications, that would be 12 days at maximum duty. Hmmm....I think not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don't try this on a MAC

I've had good experience with Epson scanners in the past. But not on this one.
The install did not go well on an Apple iMac. Despite following instructions, and calls to tech support, the device button does not work. The unit can only be controlled though software and even that does not seem to work perfectly.
Epson tech support said that with Apples, it is best to download drivers from the website, rather than follow the installation guides that come with the product. If that is the case, Epson needs to change either its installation guides or else put in a BIG WARNING for Apple users.
I would not buy this product again, for use with Apple...and the next time I decide to install a scanner on a Windows machine, I am going to think hard about buying Epson. There are alternatives.
