I love the look of this dishwasher. I bought it so that I would not have fingerprints all over it. Down side, the handle, that we touch all the time is stainless steel...fingerprints! Otherwise, I love it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Problems with the door latch

This dishwasher looks great, but starting it needs lots of prayers. We bought our dishwasher GDT580SMFES about a year ago by ordering it at a local appliance store. It had a problem with door staying shut. We had three technicians coming to our house who tried to fix the problem. They checked the installation, replaced the bottom rack, then the top rack. After almost a year, we still have the same problem, and it is pretty clear that this dishwasher has a design flaw with the door latch. Since it is a big hassle to replace the dishwasher, we had decided to live with it instead of asking a replacement dishwasher. However, it is very frustrating having to hold the door for a few minutes so that the machine starts working and checking it later to find out it stopped working.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pros and cons of model# GDT580SMFOES

Pros: Love the slate exterior and hidden controls.
Cons: Hate that the "light" cycle is 113 minutes. Much too long to use dishwasher on a daily basis. Wish dishwasher had a rinse and hold feature to use til I had a full load to run a full cycle.

Door Broke 4 Months after instal

I would not purchase this again. Door broke 5 months after install. Door will not lock and opens during washing cycle.

I've been using since February 2015, and it's worked great.
I like the slate color, and clean design of the appliance.

The latch broke after only a few uses. Called for warranty service. Repaired after 3 weeks.
