Repeated problems
on January 26, 2016

We're having this dishwasher replaced by GE because of repeated problems with it -- motor being very loud, leaking door, and other problem, all within less than a year of having the dishwasher. At least GE is doing the right thing in replacing it.

Missing some features!!!

Missing some features like different settings for pots, China, stemwere, etc., and no rinse cycle. Also the position of the areas in the bottom rack are awkward - I have trouble fitting all my dishes. Cycles are also very long, even for the light wash feature.

Disappointing
on January 26, 2016

I bought this dishwasher 4 months ago before the holidays after checking out the reviews on the store sites and on Consumer Reports, which indicated that it did a superior job cleaning even dishes with caked on food. The most important factor to me was how well it could clean dishes, and to my disappointment, it does a barely adequate job. I use the recommended Cascade detergent -- tried both gel and powder -- and rinse aid, and have tried every setting including 'sani'. But I still need to thoroughly rinse my dishes before washing them and even then I frequently find residue on plates and stains in the coffee mugs and on silverware (which is stainless steel, not silver).

Takes a long time to run and the wash is just OK. Even boosting the heat doesn't dry all the dishes.

Very quiet!

I bought this dishwasher in November, replacing our 15 year old one. It is extremely quiet, one of the main differences I noticed from our old one. I love the sleek appearance of the satinless with the hidden panel. My personal preference is a handle, so this was the look I was desiring.
I have read many complaints of the long cycle times versus the older models. After researching, I found this to be true of all newer models because of the lowere volume of water used to clean the dishes. This has not been an issue that bothers me. I knew to expect that. I do like that is has the heated dry cycle. There are generally very few water droplets left on any plastic dishes.
We were told to use very little detergent, as the new machines require only a small amount. I initially used the amount recommended by our installer, and our dishes were coming out unclean. I was extremely disappointed. I had followed all dealer recommended instructions and suggestions, including the rinse aid, steam cycle and heat boost options, but the dishes were still not coming clean.
When a serviceman came to look at the dishwasher, he tested our water and said it is very hard and would actually need more detergent. I went back to using the pods and have not had an issue since! I am careful to watch for any residue build up on the inside or food particles on the dishes as this is a sign of too much detergent build up in the dishwasher. I have not had that issue at all, but am running a cycle once per month with one cup of vinegar in the bottom of an empty dishwasher to clean it. I do not have to use the steam cycle or temperature boost as I was originally.
I wanted someone to know this in case you have the same issue. It does appear to be greatly affected by the hardness of your water. Once you find the right amount of detergent, it cleans great!
I would recommend this to a friend!
