Generally satisfied but could be better

This unit replaced a GE dishwasher from the 90s, so my comparison is primarily with that unit. We have used this unit for almost four months at this writing.
Pros: This one unquestionably does a better job of cleaning the dishes. WeI also like the stainless steel tub, and the racks slide in and out much more smoothly. It is much quieter than the old unit and was easy to install.
Cons: If you lower the upper rack, the center wash wand hits the silverware, making the upper rack worthless for anything tall. The quality of the silverware basket is flimsy, as the cover flops down when it shouldn't. In general, the layout of the racks is not as good as the old unit. The instructions show ways to load a number of different place settings. How many people load full place settings anymore? We load our dishwasher a few dishes at a time and run it two or three times a week. Cereal bowls are difficult to get to set in the upper rack without flopping forward. Only one row of large plates can be loaded on the bottom shelf without their interfering with each other. If you have bowls or small plates loaded in the top rack, there is no room for glasses on the sides. It was generally not thought through with real dishes from real people.

the dishwasher we had that came with the house when we bought it new 18 yrs. ago worked a lot better.We purchased this dishwasher simply because we were updating all our kitchen appliances to stainless.

Quiet, well built, simple to use

Just finished installing the dishwasher and ran a few cycles through it. The first thing I noticed was the extra sound barrier/insulation that was installed. The inside is really nice as well and the stainless steel finish and extra thickness undoubtedly contribute to the quiet operation. Did I mention quiet? Our kitchen opens up to one of our living rooms where we often watch TV. When we ran our older downmarket dishwasher, we had to crank the volume up on the TV and turn on closed captioning. Now, when you enter the room, you have to basically walk up to the dishwasher to see if it is running or not. It was well packaged, sturdy, no shipping dents/marks and arrived in perfect condition. The control panel is very intuitive to use with buttons clearly marked with a well documented function. All in all, we are very satisfied with the GE dishwasher and the stainless finish perfectly matches our other GE appliances.
I would recommend this to a friend!
