These seem to run out *really* quickly. I have taken to turning my printer off when i'm not using it (I only print about twice a month nowadays), otherwise the ink seems to evaporate into thin air.

Hi,
I'm sorry that you are using so much ink. High-density prints will use up a cartridge rapidly, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry. Also, a lot of black is used in almost every print job.
Using the draft and black only settings on your printer helps save ink.
Also, your habit of shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, you should always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
