This product is great, altho I have had to retire this printer and ink and have purchased a new one which is also HP as I have always been very happy with their products and service.

I now only purchase ginuine HP ink cartridges after losing a Photosmart printer to a local, low cost ink refilling service. I found I didn't save any money after my printer stopped working and had terrible printing quality. With my new Photosmart, well over a year old, I've had no problems with it. It's mainly due to the fact that I now only use HP ink!!!

Glad to see you like the ink but sorry to hear you find it over priced. Not sure if the printer you re working with is eligible for Instant Ink but you may want to take a look into it. Instant Ink is a plan you sign up for where ink is sent to you any time your cartridge gets low and you just pay a monthly fee. I have purchased these before and never had a problem with them. This time I replaced the black and all three colors at the same time. I had to use the "Clean printhead" function 10 times before the black would print with no streaks. That wouldn't be so bad but doing all those cleanings used up most of the ink in the three brand new color cartridges.

I am sorry that you had to go through so much before the black would print properly. I hope to help you avoid this in the future.
There are a couple things that will cause the printhead to need that much cleaning. One might be a dry environment and a humidifier could help that.
Also, many people have found shutting the printer down between uses can help save electricity and some ink. However, you should always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
