Various printer Tool operations and sometimes reseating 564XL cartridges during useful ink levels are too often required as indicated by inking gaps (thin parallel lines). This wastes user’s time and ink to correct. It is not as obvious with the non-XL cartridges since the standard 564 having less ink is more often replaced; automatically receiving Tool operations after being newly seated. I’ve learned by experience to identify a particular still full cartridge in the multicolor bunch that needs a particular Tool operation or reseating. Yet, it is not always the only solution since changing cartridges automatically tools for perfect use. Changing a cartridge especially works best for those that sell and supply these home printing systems and is expense for non-troubleshooting customers. The real need for changing due to low ink (or cartridge defect), of course, is always very obvious to all (even a tight-wad like me). I’m thankful that your printers today have a complete set of alignment tool operations; as well as, good visual instructions on how to change ink and remove paper jams. An all around good deal for all of us!

I am sorry for the confusion. It is not actually expired. These cartridges do not expire.
The date is just the end of warranty date. The cartridges are designed to work well past that date, so using the cartridge should not be a problem.
If there is any problem with it, you should be able to use the the return and exchange process. It is covered, step-by-step, at: store.hp.com/us/en/cv/returnsandexchanges
