A bit disappointing

I've used the microwave for 4 months and have come to realize it does not quite suit my needs.
PROS:
* Small, takes up much less room
* Attractive
CONS:
* Small; some dishes/cups/cookware will not fit
* Very low power; cooking time is significantly longer
* Requires too many steps to set a simple cook time
* Beep must be turned off by pressing the correct button;
it does not shut off by itself. You must hover nearby so
as to turn off the beeping beeper or be subjected to the
noise until you figure out the right button to press.
I knew this was a lower-powered, smaller unit than I am used to. I didn't realize how much functionality I was trading away in order to get the smaller sized appliance. I am resigned to all the drawbacks, with the exception of that annoying beep. Interestingly enough, that is the deal-breaker for me, and I find myself avoiding using the appliance. YMMV.

compact size, nice looks

I purchased this microwave because I liked the look and the small size was necessary for our limited space situation. You definitely notice that it's less powerful (takes about 45 seconds longer to re-heat a mug of cold coffee, for example) but that's to be expected. I'm a little disappointed that after about a month of use the keypad is already showing wear, and the plastic is bubbling over a couple of the most-used numbers. I would recommend this microwave to someone who NEEDS a small microwave, but not otherwise.

We looked for a very specific size to fit into our cabinet. This one worked. We are very happy for the performance and a bit surprised.

I purchased this GE compact microwave a few weeks ago and am very happy with it!
I use it simply for defrosting, warming, reheating, etc.. It's easy to operate,quiet, works perfectly, and looks great on my countertop without taking up much space. The signal is a little loud, but OK.

I have had major GE appliances for over 20 years including Profile and Monogram with little to no problems except for my Profile Arctica Refrigerator which failed in less than 5 years. BUT, I am sorry to say that I am not sure that this microwave is going to toe the mark. In less than two months of light use the control panel is "bubbling up", looks abraded, and does not seem to be as responsive to the touch as it should be. The little white GE .05 cu ft I had for over 10 years was much better and much cheaper. I only gave it up because the latch failed. I don't think that this new one is going to last nearly as well.
I am disappointed and would not recommend this newer all be it better looking model.
