Since we have ample counter space we decided to purchase a counter too microwave and add a pyramid vent above our stove. This GE was available, on sale and was just what we were looking for.

Pros: shortcut buttons for 1-6 minutes.
Light stays on when door open.
The add 30 seconds option.
4 beeps when items are done is not too loud.
When you want to change the power button, you select Power and the number and don’t have to keep hitting power to get the number changed.

Cons: If you want to enter a time other than 1-6 minutes or 30 seconds, you have to hit “Time Cook.”
There is a reminder beep if you forget your items. It isn’t too loud but not the best.
You can’t turn off all sounds. We use our microwave early in the morning.
Makes a sound when we first hit start but it may just need to be balanced.

It operates fine. It could use more power. It's a bit light in weight. It moves around too much on the counter. The plastic film over the keypad is erupting making it difficult to read the numbers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The microwave works wonders. It's a higher wattage than my prior, so using the "Power Level" is essential. If it lasts 21 years like prior brand, I can change the rating to 5 stars. But, the touch pad requires greater firmness than any touch for any device I've experienced. The door latches great, but almost industrial grade (picky), maybe the touch pad is industrial grade too. And my pet peeve with so many products, dark and/or dim letter stenciling against a black background on the touch pad.

Great, quality, attractive microwave unit with many useful features! Only drawback is that it's only 950 watts, so food takes a bit longer to cook/heat as compared to my previous unit which was 1100 watts! Not much of a big deal though, so far works great, and very happy with it!

Appliances always break at Christmas

My old 'other brand' microwave decided to go belly up 3 days before Christmas-this GE model was one of 2 that my local store had in stock...you never know how much you miss some appliance until you try to get along without it (trying to avoid paying pre-Christmas prices)...I picked the stainless steel trim version & it goes great in my kitchen! I live on microwave food/drinks & this microwave is perfect for me!
